    May 20-21, 2025

The JW Marriott Parq Vancouver, BC, Canada

    2024-11-16 (1)

Just as Canada was starting to get settled into its newly established regulations aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in transportation fuels, new changes may be on the way. With the resignation of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and a federal election set to take place on or before Oct. 20, a leadership change is certain.

The Clean Fuel Regulations that began in 2023 have already spurred shifting behaviors in Canada’s fuel suppliers, with increased blending of ethanol, biodiesel, renewable diesel and a slew of emerging technologies that are seeing investment thanks to the incentives provided by the program. Is the CFR on the chopping block as well under new leadership? British Columbia’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) had a target on its back in the most recent provincial election but survived the threat, for now.

Political uncertainty is certainly not limited to Canada. South of the border in the U.S., the new Trump administration is shaking things up in a variety of ways, including clamping down on federal funding, threatening to use tariffs against Canada and dismantling key climate components of the Biden administration. The long-delayed and puzzling implementation of the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit has also raised a number of questions from biofuels producers hoping to be incentivized for their fuels and has far-reaching implications beyond the borders of the U.S.

With these questions and issues dominating conversations, the 1st Annual OPIS Canadian Carbon & Biofuels Forum is the place to find the answers you need to operate your business efficiently and profitably. By attending, you'll gain firsthand knowledge of the challenges and opportunities presented by shifting energy prices, evolving economic landscapes, and new policy frameworks.

    Topics to be covered include:

      • Pricing Dynamics: Navigate through the intricacies of pricing with a focus on the OPIS Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR) credits, BC LCFS credits, U.S. Renewable Identification Number (RIN) credits, California LCFS credits and a number of other provincial programs.
